The Licensing and Inspection Program of the Disease Control and Prevention Division of the health department employs four sanitarians to review plans for new establishments and inspect licensed establishments to ensure that they meet licensing requirements established in state law. Staff also offer food safety training to food-service and child-care workers.

Staff also assist those planning to serve or sell food at special events, such as farmers' markets. The purpose of this program is to protect the health and safety of local residents by preventing disease outbreaks.
